PB&J Virgin

I tried a PB&J today! Ok, not really, but kind of. I was at Whole Foods getting tahini for my current hummus addiction (today I made black bean hummus), and while I was reading the back of the $13 jar of tahini, I realized that tahini is just sunflower seed butter - who knew? Since the jar of sunflower seed butter next to it was $5.99, I went with that. When I opened it, I found that it had the same smell and consistancy as peanut butter (which I have been fatally allergic to all my life) and I thought..... PB&J! At daycare, whenever this was our snack of the day, I would get a just-jelly sandwich. And it kind of sucked. So I made myself a little half sandwich and.... It was pretty good! However, now I have a stomachache. I think my body is rejecting it. It was a good experiment though.

Day'o'errands today. Slept in because apparently two-straight day study sessions make me sleeeeepy. Crossfit has too much running for my taste today so I'm gonna try the 24hr lift class at my gym tonight; we'll see how I like it. And the sun is finally out! Wooohoo!

And tomorrow is LA sample sale mania!!!! Splendid, Ella Moss, James Perse, Daftbird, Myne, Paperbag Princess, Coco de mer.... I don't know how I'm going to hit them all, but I'm sure going to try!

  1. Are you allergic to almonds? Almond butter is really good with jelly!

  2. Cashew Butter is so good, too!! But I think you are allergic to all nuts. hehe- I thought about you today when I wrote this sentence for my students using "allergy," as their vocab word: "Cathy has an allergy to nuts, so she can't enjoy the pleasure of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." Weird that I wrote that ealier today before reading your blog! haha

  3. wow, those leggings are from target? TARGET?? another reason why i love target so much - they're never afraid to take risks with the clothes they stock!

and i LOVE PB&J. one of my favorite things to eat. i'm so glad you got a chance to experience the taste of it at least!
