Current/Elliott and Joie Sample Sale

To cheer myself up in the midst of everything yesterday, I went to the Current/Elliott and Joie sample sale. While the Joie selection was massive, it wasn't that impressive because the stock they had dated back to like, 5 or 6 years ago. I remember those pieces from the beginning of college! However, the Current/Elliott merch was uhmaaazzing. They had every style jean I've ever seen them make in every wash - boyfriend jeans, acid-wash, distressed, skinnies, button-ups, etc. I got three pairs of jeans and a work top and felt a little hopeful about life. Is it pathetic how mood-lifing clothes are for me??

Current/Elliott Boyfriend Jeans (darker and not bleached like the ones I already have)

Current/Elliott Charcoal Skinny Jeans

Current/Elliott White Boyfriend Jeans (I had these from eBay but they were way too big so I got them in my normal size and I'm selling the originals)

Current/Elliott Denim Oversized Work Shirt

Sometimes School Makes Me Want to Hurt Myself.

I'm in clinically psychology grad school at Pepperdine - a private, Christian college (of which I am not - Christian) and sometimes I wonder... Why does therapy have to be so dry, depressing and boring? Ughhhh. It makes me want to do sports psychology, like I originally planned - since after getting yelled at in the middle of class that I was counter-transferring (uh, the situation didn't pertain to me so I don't know how thats possible), I don't think I'm going to be any good at it and if its really going to be this hideously boring, do I really want to subject myself to it my whole life?

I have some clothing business ventures in the works right now, so who knows how this whole grad school thing will turn out. But right now at school, I'm not a happy camper.

On a different and more positive note, I think I'm going to do the 10K Camp Pendleton mud run on Saturday! My friend had a member of their 5-person team drop out, so I think I'm going to go for it! This may be temporary insanity because while I work out 4-5 times/week and do intense Crossfit workouts like 100 chin-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats in like 10 minutes - I AM NOT A RUNNER. My mother does super-marathons (52 miles!) and I was the gymnast. I can condition hardcore and eliptical for hours but running + me = mental block. BUT for some reason, I'm excited to tackle this.

Also, last night, me and the bf got drunk on wine on the beach during sunset. So that was fun.

I get out of class in 3.5 hours. Shoot me now please.

Melrose Trading Post

I heart Sundays. I made the boyf and I pancakes for breakfast, and then we set off for the Melrose & Fairfax flea market. I'd driven by but never actually went, so I paid my $1 student ID fee and wandered around the most amazing vintage clothes, furniture, jewelery, bags, and trinkets for a couple hours. There were even some boutiques that had closed on Melrose selling the rest of their merchandise. I only got a new small $5 gold necklace to wear with my daily Dogeared ones, but I'm wishing I would have gotten some of the clothes; I just get wary of vintage because I have cleanliness issues.

Across the street was the American Apparel sidewalk sale that they're having all summer, but honestly, all the stuff was kind of crap, and still $12-20. Not worth it.

After lunch at M de Chaya where I had a delish ahi tuna burger (if you're thinking about my less-meat resolution, I don't feel like fish counts.... Right ;)???), we walked around Melrose and then 3rd and the Grove looking for new eyeglasses for the super discerning boyfriend but he still can't find any. His criteria is getting ridiculous.

WEARING:

Wildfox Crop Tank (got at the Lindsay Lou Memorial Day sale for $38)

Victoria's Secret Black Bra (poking out armpits, obv on purpose)

Hungover Crossfittin'

Got home from Marissa's partayyy in Manhattan Beach last night at 3am a lil drunk (no worries, the boy drove me home) and managed to wake up at 7:45am and drag myself to Crossfit; something I am quite proud of considering the pukey feeling I had in my tum. Then me and the boyf went on a serious hunt to every eyeglass store in Santa Monica to get him some new frames - but we were not successful. His pickiness combined with my complete lack of glasses knowledge (perfect vision, thank you very much) did not fare us well, so we will reconvene tomorrow. We had dinner at Robata Bar (owned by Sushi Roku) and I do NOT recommend it. Despite it being happy hour, it was not worth the price - expensive, tiny, bland, smoky-flavored skewers of veggies and seafood apparently do not float my boat.

I DID discover however that Blonde LA on Main st. is reopening as a new boutique, and the whole store was 50-75% off!!!!! They even had those acid-wash distressed J Brands for $99. I had a job to do with Zacherina, so I had to tear myself away from the place but I have a feeling I may wander back on Monday when he's gone.....

WEARING:

Kova & T White Burnout Tank (got at www.lindsaylou.com for $30 during the Memorial Day sale)

Bordeaux Black Tank (underneath because the Kova is QUITE seethru)

Friday Funday!

I've got a day jam-packed with funness! My friend and her boyfriend are going to a wedding in Santa Barbara this weekend but they're flying into LA and renting a car, so they're stopping at my place to see it for the first time and have brunch/lunch. Then I'm going to go to Crossfit, then hit up a couple of the million sample sales that start today, then pick up the boyf at the airport, then dinner and a party my friend is throwing in Redondo Beach. Sometimes I heart LA immensely.

WEARING (I love an outfit that can go from day to night!):

Elizabeth & James White Shirt

C&C California Black Classic Tunic (the longer tank version)

American Apparel Black Lame Leggings

DAVIS by Ruthie Davis Black Booties

PB&J Virgin

I tried a PB&J today! Ok, not really, but kind of. I was at Whole Foods getting tahini for my current hummus addiction (today I made black bean hummus), and while I was reading the back of the $13 jar of tahini, I realized that tahini is just sunflower seed butter - who knew? Since the jar of sunflower seed butter next to it was $5.99, I went with that. When I opened it, I found that it had the same smell and consistancy as peanut butter (which I have been fatally allergic to all my life) and I thought..... PB&J! At daycare, whenever this was our snack of the day, I would get a just-jelly sandwich. And it kind of sucked. So I made myself a little half sandwich and.... It was pretty good! However, now I have a stomachache. I think my body is rejecting it. It was a good experiment though.

Day'o'errands today. Slept in because apparently two-straight day study sessions make me sleeeeepy. Crossfit has too much running for my taste today so I'm gonna try the 24hr lift class at my gym tonight; we'll see how I like it. And the sun is finally out! Wooohoo!

And tomorrow is LA sample sale mania!!!! Splendid, Ella Moss, James Perse, Daftbird, Myne, Paperbag Princess, Coco de mer.... I don't know how I'm going to hit them all, but I'm sure going to try!

WEARING:

Elizabeth & James XX Maxi Tee

June Gloom

Aren't people all over the world jealous of the great California weather? So why is it June and 60 freakin' degrees outside?! Its been gray and chilly since I drove back from 110 degree Arizona, and Good Day LA tells me that its going to stay this way all week. So much for the new shorts and skirts I wanted to bust out....

I have a presentation and a test tomorrow, so I have to buckle down and go to the library this afternoon (barf.)

PS, those Tracy Feith for Target dresses came, and those suckers were SO tiny! I'm normally a size 6, I ordered 7s and the short one didn't even cover my butt, while the long one I could not get zipped! Didn't feel that fat thought, because I had checked the reviews and everyone said to order at least 2 sizes up. I was once told, don't buy clothes in a bigger size because you're telling yourself that its ok to be that size. Work to fit into your normal size. While I would need Crisco and prayer to fit into these guys (thank you Kelly Rowland - has anyone watched the Fashion Show yet?), I still hold onto that sentiment. And back to Target they went.

WEARING:

American Apparel Crop Top in Light Green

C&C California White Classic Tank
